Our Story

For Linda, the journey towards Brian's Café began with a tragic chapter for her family. In 2020, Linda lost her son Brian to the devastating outcome related to mental health consequences and street drugs. Brian succumbed to fentanyl poisoning after a harrowing period of homelessness and living in shelters. He was 25. Linda and her family had supported The Mustard Seed for years and became early supporters of Ogden Hub:29, seeking a transformative way to honour Brian's memory and support their community - and Brian’s Café became the perfect way to do so.

Brian's Café is more than just a coffee shop. It's a community hub where people from all walks of life can come together and enjoy great coffee, delicious pastries, and meaningful connections. It symbolizes a shared vision of community strength. In memory of Brian, Brian's Café is a living tribute to hope and resilience. It serves as a space where the community can unite to heal, connect, and grow. Each shared cup and conversation contribute to building a stronger, more compassionate community.

Our Coffee

Our beans are supplied by Kingdom Coffee, a local roaster with an impactful story. A portion of every bag sold goes to helping people off the street, into recovery and finding them a place to stay.

Employment Program

The Mustard Seed offers 1-on-1 employment coaching to assist individuals in finding sustainable and meaningful jobs. To compliment these services, Brian’s Café aims to provide a supportive space for individuals to develop general workplace and job-specific skills which will give them the confidence and experience to launch a career in the food industry!
